They may not have a lot going for them, but a Greenbottle's metallic suit of many colours is nothing short of spectacular ...



and they appear to be good swimmers too.

    Dear Louise, I am inclined to agree that flies, whether houseflies, blue or green bottles, do not have a great deal to commend them. But, as your posting shows, that metallic green is quite startling.

    sometimes one should just a magnifying glass to things to really 'look'... I like lying on my tum on the grass and staring into it to see what is there close up.
