THE CALENDAR - PART THREE
I knew when Winter swirled
Not by the whitened world
Or silver skeins in the lanes
Or frost
That embossed
Its patterns on window-panes
But because there were transfer-sheets
By the bottles of spice and sweets
In the shops in two little streets.

These days, for heavy snow to fall in the South, is a rare occurrence. This was the wintery scene waiting to greet us on Monday morning (02/02/09) after the night before. The snow has now thawed and it's raining.
I wonder whether we will have more snow?

Pretty snow! It still looks like a winter wonderland where you are!
Lovely image! It's the same here.
I notice that the forecast is for more snow on Monday. xx
Hi Louise - we had a sprinkling compared to yours on Monday, but have got loads today. I've just come back from a happy tramp through the snow. All the kids are off school and having a ball!
Hi Louise, Hasn't this snow been magical? We've even had it here in the far south west. Bliss! Hope you're keeping warm and toasty.
It's a beautiful scene.Sadly, we didn't get much snow, here in Devon.
;-(
I think you might be blessed with more snow tonight! It is magical, isn't it?
Not raining here yet and more forcast tonight! Looks beautiful doesn't it?
How fluffy and clumpy and picturesque that snow looked. Beautiful stuff, Louise.
As magical and lovely as snow can be... I'm waiting for spring with open arms. We've had quite a lot of "magic" already here in New England.
what a beautiful photo, surprisingly given the amount of snow everywhere else, Edinburgh hasn't had that much...
What a fabulous photo - I can never tire of looking at snow. We've had loads of snow here up-northish, with 2 snow days where the schools were shut. I love it! Had a garden full of teenagers making snow angels (I was rubbish!), snowball fights (not much better!), snowmen (least said...) and sledging (I was best, ha ha!!!).
Hope you get more snow - Enjoy!
Beautiful snowy photo Louise, we've had a lot of snow which Twiglet is thoroughly enjoying. His first real snow - yay!!

What a beautiful sight! It must be nice to have something to show for all the cold you're getting..hope you get some more! Gx
It seems this winter has been unusual wherever you live! Apparently during our 7 snow falls, 53 inches fell! It's gone now, though, except for little mounds here and there. Your photo is picture perfect. :)
Snow in England is always a delight!
Fun poem too.
such a pretty picture, my parents live in Herne Bay and that little corner always seems to miss out on the snow, yet 5 minutes up the road in Canterbury they have it!
What lovely snow! I hope it has melted by now. They're saying we could have around 6 inches on Friday. It's 46 F. right now.
