HOLLYHOCKS
Doesn't everyone love hollyhocks, so English country garden and so pretty with it. But what about the rust?
I have dispensed of hollyhocks in my garden because of this very reason, rather disappointing as I really do love them for their stature and colour. This year one has made an appearance, growing through a flagstone, quite short and this little beauty has no rust to speak of. Maybe I could just reintroduce some back into my garden next year? I may well do so, and see how they do?
My dad will be pleased. I don't think he quite understands my liking for plants which only possess the most perfect leaves!

I love hollyhocks, especially the deep red ones!
Wow..I love this shot of your hollyhock Louise!..I almost feel like a bee the centre of the flower looks so inviting!! I think your should reintroduce them..I would love to get some in mine :D Gx
I remember the first time coming across hollyhocks - at my uncle's house in the country (in France). I wanted so badly to grow them at home and tried and tried. But the dreaded rust put me off, too. Do give them a try again, Louise, I'd love to see them thrive in your garden!
I still have hollyhocks... in bud..but everything in my garden has been ruined by the rain and of course, so little sun. My Sweet Peas are slow in flowering and my geraniums just hate the wet. Oh well..roll on next year!! ;-)
What a beautiful blog you have - I am so happy to have stumbled upon your little patch :o) Thanks for sharing!
Hollyhocks are a favourite of mine, I tried to grow them but apart from the rust, I found caterpillars just loved to eat them.
